About us

Originally Beeswax Antiques started approximately 20 years ago in Cyprus where Master Restorer Jim Barr, having moved from the UK, set up a small workshop with his two young sons as apprentices. Jim is still working in Cyprus but both sons, now restorers in their own right, have moved off island.
The younger son, Joseph John Barr, lives near London working quite regularly with top dealers and auction houses such as Bonham’s and Christie's as well as for his own clientele.
The eldest son Jon-Paul Barr finished a seven year apprenticeship under the tutorage of his father Jim Barr, Master Restorer and member of BAFRA (British Antique Furniture Restorers Association) and after 15 years in the trade, also qualified to apply for membership to BAFRA.
Jon-Paul has now settled here in Estonia with his family, and with the formation of Beeswax OÜ, they entered the Estonian market in the summer of 2008.
Beeswax OÜ is a small company situated outside Tallinn with its workshop in Laagri. He has also started restoring an old manor house stables in Särevere, which will include both his home and a custom workshop, where he will have the facilities to accommodate international business as well as that from Estonia Although Beeswax OÜ specialise in the restoration of wooden furniture it offers a complete service from repairing a broken lock to the sympathetic total refurbishment and polishing that some extensively damaged items require.
With nearly 15 years experience in furniture restoration and 2 generations of restoration knowledge to call on Beeswax OÜ has the best possible solutions for all of your restoration problems.
From the beginning Beeswax OÜ has been happy to help the Tallinna Ehituskool by taking one or two students each year from their Antique restoration course so that they may have a practical hands-on workshop experience as they feel that it is important that the knowledge of one generation is passed to the next.
